The Comprehensive Area Exam is the first of two Area Exams to be written by doctoral students in English and Film Studies in order to prepare them for specialization in teaching and research. The reading list for the Comprehensive Area Exam will comprise primarily canonical texts for a recognized teachable area, and will replace the Secondary Area Seminar (EN780) that is currently in our calendar. Prerequisite: Completion of 4 one-term graduate courses at doctoral level, with a resulting appropriate GPA.
